New Website for Addent, Inc.

Addent, Inc. New Website, designed by Thumbnail Designs

We’re very excited to announce the launch of an updated website for Addent, Inc., a company dedicated to advancing dentistry. Their old site was starting to feel a bit dated and needed a refresh to match the look and feel of the latest ads we’ve been designing. This new fully responsive site also aimed to make it easier for viewers to find the information they need with more structure and better organization of content. We’re very excited with the final result! View the live site here.

How to Convert a Logo to Vector

I wrote a blog post a few weeks ago on how important it is to have a vector-based logo. But, I think there still needs to be some clarification on how to get your hands on one. If you don’t yet have a logo and are working with a designer right now, then you’ll probably be fine! Just double-check with them that they’re designing the logo in Illustrator or another vector-based program and you can relax. However, like most established businesses, you probably already have your logo and may not have it in vector format. This is where things get a …

“Why do I need a vector logo?”

Why do I need a vector logo explained by Thumbnail Designs

Recently I designed a stand & repeat banner for a client. It’s one of those jobs that requires more puzzle-making skills than design skills. But, it was an eye-opening experience. I was absolutely shocked by the quality of the company logos that were sent my way. I’m not talking about small start up companies that are running things out of Mom’s basement either. I’m talking about established businesses from the community who have donated thousands of dollars to be on this banner. So, why are they sending me low quality logos? Okay, okay, I know that file formats can be confusing. I know …

Kitty Harbor Calendar: Hot Off The Press!

Kitty Harbor Calendar

I’ve been looking forward to sharing this project for a few weeks while it was at the printer: Hot of the press is the 2017 Kitty Harbor Calendar! This design had been done by a volunteer who moved too far away to continue so I took over the reigns this year and did the photography and pre-press work for the shelter. Taking photos of cute cats is my kind of volunteering! Kitty Harbor is a wonderful no-kill non-profit cat shelter located in Griswold, CT with so many wonderful cats and kittens up for adoption!

Stand & Repeat!

Stand and repeat banner for Newington Chamber of Commerce, by Thumbnail Designs

This is the first stand and repeat banner I’ve designed — pretty cool to see it with red carpet treatment! Some projects are about developing structure and keeping files organized more than being creative. And I like that change every once in awhile.   But, my eyes were opened by the alarming lack of vector-based logos from the businesses who were on the banner!   Does your business have a vector version of their logo? Have you heard this term? It may sound like just another format, but vector-based art is created in such a way that it can be …

Marquee Website

Marquee Events website designed by Thumbnail Designs | http://thumbnail-designs.com

This site launched a couple of months ago, but in the craziness I forgot to share! Marquee Events featuring The Gershon Fox Ballroom was in need of a site refresh and so we created an elegant and beautiful website which is, of course, fully responsive. http://marquee-ct.com/ For those of you who aren’t familiar with the the term responsive, it simply means that it reformats to fit whatever screen size you’re viewing it on, which makes it mobile-friendly. With about 50% of searches now being done on mobile, this is so very important! Plus, Google has stepped up and made it very clear …
